Newton's Cradle (2020)
Newton's Cradle is a multifunctional lounger which is called so because it relies on the physical strengths of the materials to balance out and support the loads applied to it. The load that is applied when someone sits or lies down on it is transferred through the woven surface, to the frame, and then to the ropes at the bottom.
The piece has 3 positional settings, a flat hammock, an inclined lounger, and a chair. It can be changed by sliding the frames out of each other and affixing another set of pins in another set of holes in the frame.
The lounger is made from hickory, the weave is made of paracord, and the rope supports at the bottom are polypropylene cords.
